Members of Team GB have stepped out for the first time in their official kit for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, after a two-year creative design and testing process.
Jess joined fellow athletes including Tom Daley and Olivia Breen to model the sportswear, which includes a unique British Coat of Arms. It’s been a real team effort coming up with the designs, as Jess’ kit sponsor adidas joined forces with Stella McCartney to decide on creative ideas for the range.
Jess has also been involved in designing the kit and can’t wait to head out to the Summer Games.
“I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the creative process with Stella McCartney and adidas. It’s an amazing design and I think it will give British athletes a massive sense of pride and give us an edge in Rio,” says Jess.
The College of Arms was responsible for creating the sportswear, which includes reference to all four of the home nations alongside the colours of the Union Flag. Finishing off the design is the motto ‘Iuncti In Uno’, which means ‘Conjoined in One’.
Performance is key for the Team GB athletes, which is why the sportswear has been created using adidas CLIMA technology.
The kit is also around 10% lighter than that used at the last Olympic Games, which should help Jess and her teammates go further and faster when they compete in Rio this August.
