It is hoped that thousands of Sheffield’s residents will travel to the lower Don Valley to enjoy the performances of Team GB and watch other international sports stars stake their claim for a position on the podium.
SIV’s Sheftival event is set to be the city’s biggest ever festival to combine music and sport.
It comprises of three areas: ‘Sheftival Live’ – a free Olympics viewing zone at Don Valley Stadium, supported by BBC Radio Sheffield. ‘Sheftival of Sport’ at EISS offering free ‘have-a-go’ sports activities, demonstrations and tournaments including rugby, boxing, futsal, hockey and much more.
The ‘Tramlines Main Arena’ stages a music festival and outdoor pop concert featuring music from Rizzle Kicks, Stooshe, Marcus Collins, Lemar, Noisettes, The Lightning Seeds, Macka B, The Beat and many more in Don Valley Bowl. Tickets are required to access this part of Sheftival.
