Sheffield Golden Girl Jessica Ennis-Hill has helped to raise thousands of pounds to help poorly children in the city.
The Olympic and World heptathlete champion joined more than 220 guests for a fundraising gala ball raising money for The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
Athletics legend Derek Redmond also attended The Children’s Hospital Charity Gala 2015 with a number of the city’s leading businesses.

More than £20,000 was raised through ticket sales, a raffle and an auction hosted by Jess.

The funds will go to The Children Hospital Charity’s Make It Better appeal, which aims to raise funds to build a new wing at the hospital.

Tchad Western, the charity corporate fundraiser, said:

“The night was a fantastic success and will leave a legacy for our young patients for generations to come.

“All children deserve to get better in an environment designed with them in mind, and thanks to the support of Santander we are one step closer to being able to offer this for the 260,000 patients we see each year.”

The new wing will feature a spacious outpatients department, giant play tower and outdoor gardens.
It will also feature three new wards, with mostly private rooms with parents beds, so families can stay together at the most difficult times.

Tony Longden, from Santander, said: “We were delighted by the turnout and the success of the event.”
He added: “It was great to see so many local people and businesses donate to such an important local cause.

“We would like to thank all of the guests for making the evening so special.”
